Electrical Consultants, Inc., (ECI) a leading power engineering consultant firm, has an immediate opening for a contracts manager in its Legal Department, with a specialized focus on construction and engineering contracts within the energy industry. This role is critical in supporting the contractual needs of major energy infrastructure projects—ranging from renewable energy developments to traditional power generation and transmission systems. This position requires a contracts professional with strong commercial instincts, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to project teams, business leaders, and executives. The role requires a strong understanding of EPC project delivery, commercial risk allocation, construction contract principles, and subcontract administration.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of contracts associated with large-scale energy projects, including:
- Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) agreements
- Professional engineering and technical service agreements
- Master Service Agreements (MSAs)
- Subcontractor, supplier, and OEM agreements
- Other construction, engineering or procurement agreements
- Provide strategic business and contracts guidance on complex energy infrastructure projects, including renewables (solar, wind, battery storage), conventional power, grid modernization, and transmission.
- Collaborate with commercial, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure contracts align with business objectives and risk tolerance.
- Develop and implement contract templates, contract playbooks and training programs tailored to the needs of the energy sector.
- Ensure appropriate flow-down provisions from prime contracts.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Assist project teams in preparing pricing, schedule impact analyses, and supporting documentation for change orders.
- Other responsibilities as necessary
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field; a minimum of 7+ years of construction contracts experience, with a proven background in negotiating and drafting complex construction and engineering agreements, including EPC contracts, professional services agreements, master services agreements (MSAs) and subcontractor agreements; deep understanding of construction contracts including risk allocation; indemnities; delay and change order claims and limitation of liability; strong contract administration skills; Excellent contract drafting, communication, and negotiation skills; ability to balance contractual risk with business objectives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment; experience working cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, and procurement professionals; occasional travel may be required, therefore, the successful applicant will be subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
