CIVIL/MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Description: Under the direct supervision of a professional engineer, the successful candidate will perform detailed civil design for transmission lines through 500 kV; develop sophisticated finite element models of transmission lines using industry specific software tools; wood, concrete and steel structure design; foundation design including drilled piers, slabs, spread footers and other unique foundation systems; prepare material specifications; and prepare construction drawings and specifications. Occasional travel required.

CIVIL/STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Description: Under the direct supervision of a professional engineer, the successful candidate will focus on the design and engineering of substation and power delivery facilities. This position combines structural engineering and site (civil) design expertise, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high-quality project delivery. The role offers significant opportunities for professional growth, particularly in power delivery and infrastructure design.
Structural engineering responsibilities include the development of design criteria, structure design, foundation design, building design, and related works. Structure design primarily consists of standard shape steel structures, tubular steel specifications, fire walls, and other facilities. Foundation design involves drilled pier, shallow/pad, and spread footing foundations. The candidate will be responsible for learning and applying various software tools, including Visual Analysis, STAAD.Pro, Risa, LPILE, MFAD, and CAISSON, to support the design work.
Site (civil) engineering responsibilities include developing design criteria for grading and drainage design, access road design (for both paved and unpaved sections), vehicle maneuvering modeling, and haul road analysis. The successful candidate will also specify and design retaining walls, perimeter walls, fences, and gates, along with water storm drainage systems. Additionally, the role requires the ability to specify and interpret hydrology studies, with AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred.

ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER (CIVIL)
Location: Billings, MT
Description: The Assistant Project Manager (Civil) role at ECI provides support to project managers and lead engineers, working with some of the company’s largest and most valued clients. Under general supervision, the position collaborates with project managers, lead engineers, and subject matter experts to prepare deliverables and reports. Responsibilities include development of proposals, quantity takeoffs and estimating, review of invoicing, coordinating project schedules and workload tracking, developing forms, templates, standards, and procedures, offering significant opportunities for growth and professional development within the company.
Key duties include handling technical editing and document production, requiring strong attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat. This role may also include schedule development and maintenance using Primavera 6 or Microsoft Project scheduling software. This position ensures that all deliverables align with project scopes and client needs while maintaining consistency and clarity in style. Responsibilities also include editing technical reports, tracking edits from multiple authors, and managing version control.
This position includes reviewing RFPs to develop accurate work scopes and completing material and quantity takeoffs to aid in accurately developing estimated project costs. This will require review of survey and geotechnical data to develop preliminary designs under the supervision of an experienced civil engineer.
This position is responsible for maintaining accurate administrative files throughout the project lifecycle, assisting with project setup, managing cash flow curves, tracking labor and cost reports, reviewing invoicing and preparing monthly and quarterly forecasts. Additionally, it involves coordinating schedule updates with internal stakeholders.
Program documentation is another key responsibility, including managing project closeout documentation, updating organizational charts and templates, and ensuring compliance with internal standards. General administrative support is also provided, such as coordinating meetings, handling light accounting tasks, and maintaining accurate project files.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, or related field, with 0-2 years of experience in technical writing, documentation management, and administrative experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; and a willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules. Experience in utility or merchant power industry and heavy civil construction is a plus.
CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN/CIVIL DESIGNER
Location: Openings in various locations throughout the United States.
Description: Under the direct supervision of a professional engineer, the successful candidate will perform detailed civil design and drafting for high voltage electrical substations, transmission lines, and renewable projects, such as Wind, Solar and Energy Storage; develop site grading plans and details through the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, design and detail foundations and structures supporting substation and transmission line projects; draft and design plans and profiles, structure details, foundation details, bill of materials, staking sheets, and phasing diagrams for underground and overhead transmission and distribution line projects through use of AutoCAD and other industry specific software tools.
